Pensacola Beach Report 8/04/2022

The surf today isn’t much to talk about other than it looks like it’s going to be calf-high breakers at the beach for most of the day.  We’ve been blessed to not have any real action in the Gulf thus far this summer, so we’ll take the no surf days as long as they also mean no “H word” days.

Well, The big news around here in the fishing world is that Red Snapper season just closed for the summer.  The GOOD NEWS is however, that we still have some Red Snapper season left on a few weekends this fall.  You can see the remaining open dates below.

  • October 8-9
  • October 15-16
  • October 22-23
  • November 11-13 (Veteran’s Day Weekend)
  • November 25-27 (Weekend after Thanksgiving)

In addition to a very successful Red Snapper season, the offshore bite has been great with mahi and even some sailfish in closer than usual.  Last week saw one young bait angler land about a 120 lb. tarpon from the beach right in front of the Hampton Inn on Pensacola Beach.  The Tarpon was released unharmed and the beachgoers who were there had quite a treat watching the young man pull in that monster right off the beach.  Side note: Tarpon are harmless to humans.

The beach is simply awesome this time of year, so get on out here and enjoy some SUN THERAPY on Pensacola Beach and maybe follow your beach day with a great dinner at one of the super cool outdoor dining spots like Water Pig BBQ or the newly re-opened Red Fish Blue Fish.  Both are pet friendly and share a private beach where you can dip your toes in the sand while you munch on the areas best seafood and BBQ.  Y’ALL COME SEE US !!
