Whether embarking on your maiden voyage to Pensacola Beach or a lifelong local, you’ve probably come to know that our charming island is quite pet-inclusive. With this in mind, we’ve established some of our favorite spots to enjoy the island’s social appeal bite by bite, sip by sip…Did we mention that your furry best friend is invited? Whether you’re looking to catch the perfect beach sunset or seeking a low-key bite where your companion is celebrated, Pensacola Beach has you covered.

Sunset Happy Hour…Red Fish, Blue Fish

If you’re a sunset-seeking, happy hour aficionado with doggo in tow, a visit to Red Fish Blue Fish during golden hour is essential. The Red Fish Blue Fish backyard sits right on the Santa Rosa Sound with spectacular views, festive amenities, and quality libations, setting the stage for any successful happy hour. They’re also completely pet-friendly! The backyard has various lounge and dining options, with plenty of room for kicking back with a chilled beverage as the orange glow merges with the horizon. The staff is very accommodating to our beloved furry friends, ensuring there are plenty of H20, shade, and cooling stations for all guests (especially of the furry variety).

Room to Rove…Water Pig

Located right next door to Red Fish Blue Fish is Water Pig, the island’s exclusive pet-friendly, beachfront Southern BBQ joint. It’s hard to imagine a more unique dining experience that celebrates our furry sidekicks than a visit to Water Pig. With vast, sandy seating and expansive beachfront there’s plenty of room to bask in the island vibes or stroll the beach before or after your delectable southern fare. Water Pig’s backyard is one of the best at the beach and is accommodating to those who’d like to stay awhile to enjoy the amenities. If you’re a sports fanatic looking to catch the “big game” with toes in the sand and Fido by your side, this is the place!

Festive Mainstay…Peg Leg Petes

In the mood to sample a local staple during your stay? Look no further than Peg Leg Pete’s, a long-standing pirate-themed seafood restaurant with a nautical flair. The bustling environment paired with solid regional fare, makes Peg Leg Pete’s a beach favorite amongst locals and visitors alike. There’s covered outdoor seating and a shipwreck-inspired backyard for your dog to enjoy with your entire party. We’d recommend making a reservation during the peak season and trying any variety of their world-famous oysters!

Elevated Deckside Dining…Shaggy’s

Becoming another local mainstay, Shaggy’s is a waterfront bar & grille with breezy vibes and a reputation for mouthwatering frozen daiquiris. Like some of our other favorites, Shaggy’s hosts spectacular waterfront sunsets from their western-facing, elevated deck located on Little Sabine Cove. During happy hour the breeze rolls off the cove, as the sun melts into the horizon with live local tunes on tap to set the evening mood. The staff welcomes and celebrates pets each visit and immediately ensures your pet has plentiful water and shade. Just plop your paws on the deck and enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of the coast!
