Pets in Paradise
If leaving your pup at home is out of the question, Pensacola Beach offers a true escape for furry friends plus the peace of mind that comes with knowing they’ll be included in all of the family fun!
In recent years, our barrier island has gained a reputation for being one of the most pet-centric resort towns on the Gulf Coast. With an array of pet-friendly accommodations and activities, as well as easy-to-reach dog beaches, your four-legged travel buddy will be soaking up the sun in no time.
Planning A Pet-Friendly Trip
If you’re looking for a spot with onsite pet amenities, check out Surf & Sand Hotel located in Little Sabine Cove. Deemed “the pet friendliest,” its waterfront cove serves as a private pet haven with room to roam, swim, and paddle without public beach crowds.
Naturally, there’s no shortage of pet-friendly dining establishments or watering holes in Pensacola Beach. With a multitude of “come as you are,” open-air establishments you’re in for a delightful, pet-inclusive experience.
Some favorites among local canine lovers are Red Fish Blue Fish, Water Pig BBQ, and Peg Leg Pete’s. With a cold drink in hand and first-rate morsels, you and the pup can slow down and simply … enjoy. Throw in a magnificent sunset that’s virtually guaranteed and you may be tempted to add a few days to your itinerary.
Pet-Friendly Family Activities
If you want to relax while stimulating your senses, be sure to spend time at our dedicated, gulf front dog beaches. That’s right, Pensacola Beach is home to two seaside dog beaches where dogs can frolic, chill, or socialize with the pack.
If a breezy car ride is more your style, just roll down the windows and traverse the scenic, 17- mile stretch of winding road that hugs the coastline. There are ten miles between Pensacola Beach and Navarre that are largely undeveloped and protected by the Gulf Islands National Seashore.
If the sea beckons, you and doggo can test your nautical skills as captain and first mate. Several beachfront vendors rent stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, and small sailboats equipped to help you make lasting memories. You can navigate the nooks and crannies of the island to find your own slice of paradise. For larger groups, a pontoon may be your best option as there’s enough room for the entire party (pets included) to explore the coastline at your leisure.
Although pets aren’t typically allowed on non-designated beaches during peak hours, there’s miles of paved pathway that spans the island allowing you to enjoy changing scenery and diverse bodies of water by foot. You’ll get your steps in before you know it!
